PPP & partnership

Small hydro. Established legal framework.

Uzbekistan has the water, the legal framework and the financing programmes. We supply the machines and the engineering.

Demand and state support

Electricity demand is expected to double by 2030, while three quarters of the country's hydropower potential remains unused. The state has responded with legislation, targets and financing:

ZRU-573

PPP Law in force since June 2019 — with PPP units inside the Ministry of Energy

25 yr

PPA terms with guaranteed offtake, proven in Uzbekistan's solar and wind IPPs

$150M

World Bank programme for 100 kW–5 MW plants on irrigation canals, 2025–2030

2 983

micro-HPP sites in the national 2025–2026 programme (~165 MW combined)

Where Mavel machines fit

93% of the canal sites identified in Uzbekistan are in the 100–1 000 kW range with low heads — exactly the range covered by Kaplan S/PIT units and TM siphon packages. For mountain rivers in the Tashkent, Namangan and Surkhandarya regions, Francis and Pelton units cover heads up to 1 000 m.

The manufacturer

Manufactured in the Czech Republic since 1990

Mavel designs, machines, assembles and test-runs every unit at its own plants in the Czech Republic. Everything that determines how the machine performs is done in-house.

What happens in-house

  1. Runner machining

Runners are milled from a single forging or casting on 5- and 6-axis CNC centres — no welded blade assemblies.

  2. Full assembly

Every turbine is completely assembled and fitted in the workshop before it is prepared for transport.

  3. Factory testing

Units are test-run and the control system is commissioned at the factory, so commissioning on site only confirms the results.

  4. Hydraulic design

Over 100 proprietary runner geometries. The hydraulic profile is selected and adapted to the head and flow of your site.

Who we work with

01

EPC contractors

Complete equipment packages with guaranteed interfaces, factory testing, installation supervision and commissioning. This limits your schedule risk.

02

Public institutions

Technical documentation, feasibility input and European-manufactured equipment with ISO 9001/14001 certification for modernization and new-build programmes.

03

Developers & investors

Turbine selection and energy-yield calculations from your site data, budgetary pricing for bankable feasibility studies, and O&M support for the PPA term.

From site data to the first kilowatt-hour

  1. 01

    Site data

You send the head, the flow series and site photos. We confirm the turbine type and unit sizing.

  2. 02

    Feasibility

Energy yield, equipment scope and budgetary pricing for your financial model.

  3. 03

    Contract & engineering

Binding proposal, hydraulic design, civil-works interfaces for your EPC.

  4. 04

    Manufacturing

Production and full assembly testing in the Czech Republic. Every unit is test-run before shipment.

  5. 05

    Commissioning

Installation supervision, grid connection, trial operation and operator training.

  6. 06

    Operation

Remote monitoring, spare parts and service support — for the whole term of the PPA.
